Fifteen years after her partner Patrick McDermott mysteriously vanished during a fishing trip off the California coast, Olivia Newton-John is still looking for answers.

Now a source tells New Idea the Australian singing superstar, along with Patrick’s ex-wife Yvette Nipar, are still optimistic that the truth will come out for the sake of the missing cameraman’s son.

Chance Taylor, now a 28-year-old musician, was just 13 years old when his dad reportedly faked his own death amid financial problems and his recent split from ONJ and began a new life in Mexico.

“Olivia and Yvette have remained close over the years – they’re bonded by their desperation to figure out what happened to Patrick,” reveals a source. “Yvette wants closure for her son, who has been haunted by this for most of his life.”

Patrick, then 48, was a passenger on the fishing charter Freedom, which left Los Angeles’ San Pedro marina for an overnight fishing trip to San ClementeIsland on June 30, 2005.
