IT’S great to be back, and I don’t mean great to be back writing my first diary column of the new season, for that is great for neither you nor me.

The LastWord with Joe Sullivan

I mean that it’s great to be back now that the season is in full swing with, even this early in the campaign, the Hoops being the only team in the league with full points, the best European night at Celtic Park in ages and the young Academy graduates of the Celtic Colts being the only Under-20 team left in the Irn Bru Challenge Cup, with all of the other Premiership sides joining the other teams from the lower divisions that have exited.

The feel-good factor is back big-style with the arrival of Brendan Rodgers, a couple of new faces and plenty of old faces returning with Brendan’s cry of filling the top tier of the Lisbon Lions’ Stand definitely not falling on deaf ears.

This club means so much to so many people and it’s fantastic to see bhoys and ghirls of all ages (see pic) come together to do what we do best supporting Celtic.

OUTSIDE of the Beautiful Game, and, for me, that’s normally restricted to the green and white Hooped variety, I don’t have much of an affinity with sport so I’ve managed to avoid the Olympics so far.

However, by mistake I managed to catch 30 seconds of some boxers punching each other when I changed channels a tad too early to watch the fitba’ on Sunday evening. It’s great that
