Mikey Johnston is hoping that a good pre-season in Austria will see him hit the right notes for the Hoops first-team.

The Hills Are Alive With The Sound Of Celtic

THIS time last year, Mikey Johnston was cursing the injury which ruled him out of the first team's pre-season tour of Austria. Having made his first-team debut towards the end of that season, the young Celt had been looking forward to enhancing his prospects with further involvement in Brendan Rodgers’ side during the summer.

Instead, he was on the road to recovery, a road that required patience as well as a determination to get back to full fitness.

Fast forward 12 months, and with some impressive performances with the Development Squad to boast of, as well as international experience with Scotland’s Under-21 squad at the end of this season in the prestigious Toulon tournament, Johnston enjoyed a well-earned spot in this season’s pre-season camp, which was again held in Austria.

And the 19-year-old is hoping to use the experience as a springboard towards regular involvement with the first-team throughout the forthcoming campaign.

Speaking to the Celtic View, Johnston explained that he’s enjoying the opportunity to train alongside the top players at the club on a daily basis.
