HIS appearances at Celtic Park may now be rare, but whenever Henrik Larsson does run on to the Paradise pitch wearing the Hoops, it conjures up countless happy memories of seven magnificent years for supporters lucky enough to have watched a legend of the club blossom.

In 315 appearances for Celtic, the Super Swede scored 242 goals, putting him third in the all-time scoring records behind Bobby Lennox and the peerless Jimmy McGrory.

For the player himself, he always welcomes the opportunity to return to a place he considers his football home, reminding him of seven memorable years in Glasgow.

On Sunday he was there to pay tribute to Scott Brown, taking part in the testimonial match against Martin O’Neill’s Republic of Ireland side. And only the heroics of Irish goalkeeper, Conor O’Malley, denied the Celtic legend another goal at Paradise.

Speaking to the View after the game, Larsson spoke of his delight at having been part of a special Celtic occasion.

“It always feel like I’m coming back home,” he said. “Every time I get the opportunity and the privilege to come here is fantastic.
