KRISTOFFER Ajer capped off a great few days by signing a new four-year contract with the club. Having picked up his first league winner’s medal as a Celt, the Norwegian defender was naturally delighted to commit his future to the club.

And while his focus will now be on this Saturday’s Scottish Cup final against Motherwell at Hampden, the 20-year-old took time to speak to the Celtic View after putting pen to paper on his new deal.

“I wanted to be here at a Celtic and thankfully the manager and the club wanted me,” he said. “I’m really happy to sign a new four-year deal. It was never in doubt in my mind when the opportunity came up. I couldn’t be happier to be here and I’m excited to be here for many years to come.

“I’m really happy to be part of one of the biggest clubs in the world. It means a lot to me. Knowing that I’ll have a future at this club feels great because I’ve developed so much here thanks to the manager, staff and players and I want to continue developing in the way I have.

“My goals right now are to get as many games as possible for Celtic. It’s a big dream to come through and play week-in-week-out here. I’m hoping to do that more and develop a lot as well with the help of the players and the gaffer.”
