A look at what Celtic’s charitable arm has in mind for the African country.

Foundation For Future Of Malawi

TONY HAMILTON

CHIEF EXECUTIVE,

CELTIC FC FOUNDATION

AT the beginning of the month I was fortunate to attend a Mass at our spiritual home, St Mary’s in the Calton, to celebrate this wonderful establishment’s 130th birthday! I was even more fortunate to get to say a few words about our charitable beginnings and what the club is trying to do today through Celtic FC Foundation.

Celtic has come a long way since our inception in the 1880s in Victorian Britain and has worked enormously hard to rightfully earn its place as one of the finest football clubs in the world. It is, without a doubt, one of the best supported and one of the best run.

The day following the Mass I set off for Africa in one of those planes, planes and more planes trips that I seem to often get involved in. Ask me anything about Johannesburg Airport. It’s my new specialist subject.

Anyway, when I finally arrived on African soil I had two days in Ghana on the continent’s west, but before that I had two days in Malawi, a wee, fairly central country of 17million folk, squeezed in between Zambia to the west, Tanzania to the north and Mozambique to the south and east.
