India is an amazingly colourful country. People around the world visit India for its vibrant colours and the amalgamation of different cultures. There is no doubt India is one of the most colourful countries to photograph. So if a photographer wishes to chase colourful photographs around the country, where do they go? What colour should they expect and how do they travel there? In this article we help them chase down colours around the country and find out how they can photograph colourful places, people, culture and food among other colourful things.

Colour in Culture

India is a land of diversity. People around the world visit India to soak in the culture and rich heritage of the country. With several languages being spoken, different gods being worshipped, different clothing styles, India is truly diverse. Every state has different clothing styles, ranging from Benarasi Sari in Varanasi to Mekhla Sador in Assam, from Kurta Dhoti in West Bengal to the Bandhgala in Jodhpur, the traditional dresses of India vary according to  different ethnicity, geography, climate and cultural traditions. Culture also includes different dance forms which are quite colourful as well. Bharatnatyam, Kathakali, Kathak, Manipuri, Bhangra etc dance forms are extremely colourful and make for interesting pictures. Knowing and learning about the culture alone makes a photographer’s job much easier.
