Aoife and Mike, owners of this stunning double fronted Edwardian house in Sandymount knew the team at Kingston Lafferty Design could bring their home to life.
-
Dating from 1910, this period property with it’s stunning views of the sea instantly appealed to the owners. However, although a beautiful house, it lacked cohesion, fun and magic. Having admired the work of Dublin interior design house Kingston Lafferty Design (KLD), Aoife and Mike knew they would be able to help them inject personality and energy into the house and make it into a family home that reflects them.

Fiona Stone, designer and project lead explains, ‘The brief was to reimagine key areas, improve flow and functionality and add a layer of colour and tonality. As this was a coastal residence, we wanted to bring in a subtle aspect of the sea throughout which we achieved through the colour palette, using tones of blues and greens.

‘As you enter the house you are met by a fully tiled porch in undulating blue ripple effect tiles. This colour palette stemmed from the porch is reflected in each room by using subtle hints of this colour. The repeated colours throughout help to link each area to create a harmonious flow throughout and create a calm, relaxed place to be in,’ adds Fiona, who goes on to say, ‘The colours used in the front of the house are darker and moodier, moving into lighter, pastel tones towards the back.’
