Nathalie and AJ Shome rescued a completely unmodernised property that had been standing empty for more than 20 years and turned it into a beautifully functional family home

Nathalie and her husband AJ already knew their perfect location – they just needed to find the perfect house: ‘We’d been living in a two-bedroom flat in north London but, keen to start a family, we needed somewhere bigger,’ says Nathalie. ‘We often took our dog, Ramsay, for long walks further north, near Chipping Barnet, which has countryside on its doorstep and a busy high street, and is only a short Tube journey into the heart of the city.
