Mighty mountain

Adding a new glass box extension was only the beginning for this imaginative project which features a mountainous roofline, half-demolished brick walls in the kitchen and bright pops of colour throughout.

Every step of the way, CAN Architecture combined a practical reconfiguration of the existing layout – producing a new bedroom on the first floor – with sustainable improvements, thermally upgrading the entire house and including recycled materials (the kitchen and exterior lintel facings are made from old chopping boards and milk bottle tops).
