GATHER ’ROUND Sink-into lounges, rustic finishes and an endless supply of spots to lie back in and kick off your shoes are the hallmarks of this holiday escape by the sea in the Western Cape province of South Africa: and that’s the way homeowners, interior designers (and brother and sister) Boyd and Geordi love it. Designed for their extended families to enjoy, the home’s downstairs living space is all tactile fabrics and raw appeal. Here two distinct, cozy areas are defined by a pair of sumptuous sofas from Cécile & Boyd back to back (one seen here, and the other pictured over the page). Locally, the ‘Joe’ sofa from MCM House is a good match.

LIVING ROOM Charming and inviting, the main living room is a drawcard for all Boyd and Geordi’s family, from teens through to grandparents. Notably, every room in this divine holiday home has been designed to bring the outdoors in and drink in the beautiful outlook. Here, artworks make a bold statement – the bottom print is by artist Walter Battiss, while the other artworks are by unknown artists – and pick up the vibrant colour theme of the layers on the sofa, upholstered in Romo tie-dye fabric.
