Reviving the traditional artform of Pichwais

In his recent exhibition titled Srinathji Swaroopam, artist Jai Khanna gave a contemporary revival to the ancient art of Pichwais. While the art form is traditional, the language —whether it’s the motifs or the colour palette — is undeniably contemporary.

Showcasing 30 contemporary works on silk and paper, for the first time, this traditional form of art has been redefined within an urban milieu, their simplistic narrative reinforced with his personal vision.
