Smooth, dewy skin without a blemish in sight-that's complexion perfection! But it's not always easy to achieve. Even if you have pretty good skin, ordinary life can lead issues to pop up. “Dehydration can make skin dry and brittle, and stress triggers an increase in cortisol that can cause acne and oily skin," says Jessica Hummel Stamm, R.D.N., owner of Healthy Medium Nutrition in the Los Angeles area. Poor diet is a skin saboteur too: The lack of certain nutrients can affect skin quality. But the right nutrient mix can nourish skin. Try these top bites:

CARROTS

These veggies are a robust source of beta-carotene, which converts to vitamin A, essential for skin growth and repair. They also have antioxidants that help protect skin from oxidative stress, which can speed up skin aging and affect appearance.
