VIRGINIA decided that after nearly eight weeks of radiotherapy, I needed some convalescence, so four weeks after the treatment we set off to Devon’s Anglers Paradise. I was still not sure if I was up to fishing.

But as soon as we arrived, the keenness returned and I was off to the Trout Lake to fish a virtually static fly with very light fly gear and one of my home-made fly indicators, which are just a smaller version of my catfish indicators.
I was rather hoping for a big brown trout, which have grown on in the lake over a period of about 12 years to reach massive sizes, as it is a catchand-release fishery and only fish a virtually static fly with very light fly gear and one of my home-made fly indicators, which are just a smaller version of my catfish indicators.
