71-Pounder Smashes British Carp Record!

What a high for Lowe! Martyn Lowe’s magnificent mirror carp scaled 71 lb, but he won’t be claiming it as a British record.

Martyn Lowe has obliterated the official British carp best with a 71 lb giant, but he is not going to try to claim the record.
Godmanchester-based Martyn caught the carp, known as Marshall’s, from £50-a-night Meadows Lake at his local Holme Fen, in Cambridgeshire.
The British Record Fish Committee has already rejected a record claim for a fish caught from the same water in 2018 when Vinny Parker captured Captain Jack at 69 lb 10 oz.
Martyn said: “I just want to make it clear that I never had any intention of claiming the record. I’m just happy to have caught a 70.
