Jewellery Market Scenario Post Lockdown
The Art of Jewellery
|June 2020
Post lockdown, jewellers have reopened their showrooms with hopes of reviving the sales and getting back to normal. Since safety of the customers and staff has become the priority now, all jewellers are taking precautionary measures to provide a safe shopping experience.

Apart from the use of sanitizers and masks, in some areas such as Mumbai where there are congested shops – jewellers are opening shops in odd-even days, that is shops on each side of a street will open on alternative days. This is to ensure social distancing and safety of customers. The expectations for jewellery sales are very high as many industry experts feel that the pentup demand of consumers will help in recovering the jewellery industry. We at AOJ would like to discuss the various possibilities in the jewellery market scenario post the lockdown.

Bringing Back Karigars and Manufacturing New Jewellery
Post lockdown, the main issue would be to bring back the skilled artisans who have already moved to their native places. In such a scenario, where manufacturing of new jewellery would be a challenge, many jewellers are planning to offer higher salary to karigars for jewellery making so that they can meet the expected jewllery demand during popular festivals like Dussehra and Diwali.
