JUST WHEN WE’D REACHED PEAK DEPENDENCE ON pencils, gels and serums to craft exquisite Cara Delevingneesque brows, along comes a new semi-permanent make-up technique that promises to transform our approach. Microblading has already taken the US by storm and is now causing mass Instagram hysteria this side of the pond, with images of volume-starved brows miraculously transformed into full-bodied arches. Understandably, anything with the word ‘blade’ in the title seems scary but, trust us, the treatment isn’t as badass as it sounds. ‘Even though the tool we use might look like a scalpel, 12-14 tiny needles actually draw on the individual strokes,’ explains Suman Brows founder Suman Jalaf, who is known as ‘the eyebrow queen’ to her legion of loyal fans (Suki Waterhouse among them). ‘This allows us the precision to mimic real brow hairs.’
