Q I’ve read that using dry shampoo helps to get rid of dandruff. I’ve been using it for some time now but it does not seem to be working. Do dry shampoos really help get rid of dandruff?

A Dry shampoos are more helpful if the hair is oily, as it reduces the oiliness of the hair and scalp. Basically, it is in the form of a powder that absorbs the oil from the scalp. In fact, dry shampoos can lead to a build-up on the scalp, which can cause dandruff and other related problems. It is better to use a mild herbal shampoo. Take very little shampoo, dilute it with water and then apply. Also once a week, apply heated olive oil or til oil on the scalp with a cotton wool at night and rub gently to dislodge the flakes. The next morning, apply lime juice on the scalp and wash your hair. Daily application of non-oily herbal hair tonics also help.

Q My scalp gets very oily and that results in my skin getting oily too. Is there a way to stop this?
