Detective Matthew Venn confronts the scars of his upbringing in four-part drama The Long Call. Based on a book by Vera and Shetland author Ann Cleeves, it follows the investigation after a man’s body is found on a beach, leading Matthew to the Barum Brethren – a religious group he was raised in until he was 19, when he announced he no longer believed.
