When most people think of an old people’s home, they usually picture elderly residents sleeping or watching television.

But for an experimental two-part Channel 4 series, St Monica’s retirement community in Bristol has been transformed into a lively nursery – with 10 boisterous four-year olds sharing the lives of 10 OAPs.

The aim of the six-week experiment is to see if it improves the pensioners’ well-being.

 ‘Four-year-olds are non-judgmental, they just want to play,’ says nursery worker Emma. ‘If you interact with a four-year-old, they’ll do the same.’
