Liz Bonnin explores the devastating effect our love of meat is having on our planet

- Liz Bonnin

Food for thought

Across the planet we now consume a staggering 65 billion animals a year. In the last 50 years, the global cattle population has increased by 400 million, the number of pigs has doubled and the number of chickens increased five-fold – all to keep up with our meat-eating demands. But what is the cost to our environment?

In a new documentary, wildlife biologist Liz Bonnin travels the world, from the rainforests of the Amazon to the intensive cattle farms in Texas, to investigate the devastating effect our meat consumption is having.

TV&Satellite Week met Bonnin, who presented the BBC’s award-winning documentary Drowning in Plastic last year, to find out more…
