Anita Rani and Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall tackle the problem of plastic pollution

- Caren Clark

Drowning In Plastic

David Attenborough’s Blue Planet II and other shows have highlighted the harmful impact of plastic on our oceans. Now, in BBC1’s three-part documentary War on Plastic, Countryfile’s Anita Rani and campaigning celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall explore how we can make a difference by reducing the use of plastic in our daily lives.

The series sees them challenge the residents of a Bristol street to cut back on single-use plastic in their homes, and the pair also explore what businesses and the government need to do to bring about change. We caught up with Rani, 41, to find out more…

What is the premise behind the show?
