Not just for country houses, an orangery is an extension with a glass roof and floor to ceiling windows. As you might guess, they were originally conceived to shelter citrus plants from the British weather, but whether you choose to throw in a lemon tree or not, they make the most beautiful dining and living spaces.

We build a conservatory to capture the sun, yet being blinded by the light or poaching slowly on a spring day isn’t on our list of favorite things, so be sure to add blinds that go exactly where you need them, night and day. Brackets that allow blinds to run top-down, bottom-up or somewhere in the middle are a clever solution to an age-old need.
