Bubbles Go Pop!

Ritwik was blowing bubbles on the terrace and his baby sister, Diya, was trying to grab them.

Diya was only three and did not know how to blow into the ring properly: she either blew too fast or too slow. And on the occasional time she got it right, she ended up tipping the little container of bubble solution and spilling its contents all over the ground.

So it was just Ritwik blowing bubbles and Diya trying to catch them.

The two were having a grand time together. Diya enjoyed chasing the bubbles and bursting them.

“Pop!” she squealed, clapping her hands and giggling. “Diya wants more bubbles. More! More!”

Just as Ritwik blew a fresh batch of bubbles, Diya suddenly began to cry.

Ritwik was used to his baby sister suddenly bursting into tears. He knew she was a little child and could get hurt or upset easily.

“What’s the matter?” Ritwik asked her calmly. “Did the soap go into your eyes?”

“No.”

“Did you stub your toe?”

“No.”

“I know! You’re hungry. Should we go into the house and make a snack?”

“No.”
