Lucy’s relatively peaceful life is about to come to a screeching halt when Luthando is released from prison.

It’s safe to say that self-proclaimed “Queen Of Gomorrah” Lucy (Manaka Ranaka) is somewhat reformed. After many years of living the tough life as a feared street thug and having done her fair share of jail time many years ago, Lucy has definitely settled into a more subdued life in recent years. But that’s all about to change when a former prison buddy knocks on her front door.

PRISON SISTERS

Viewers have come to know the muchfeared Luthando (Khutjo Green) pretty well in recent months after we saw her take jail cell newbie Palesa (Busisiwe Xaba) under her wing. But Luthando and Lucy go way back, with the pair having ruled the lockdown system practically unopposed for years. “Lucy was a different person when she was in prison. She was a lot tougher,” Manaka reminds us. “She was a gangster. But she has left that life behind, enjoying married life and moving up the corporate ladder.” So when Lucy gets a phonecall from Luthando, she’s floored. “Lucy goes cold and starts to panic,” says Manaka says. “She is even more stunned when Luthando delivers the big news: she’s about to be freed and she wants to see her friend.

Immediately wary of Luthando’s true intentions, Manaka reveals that Lucy is on edge. “They haven’t spoken in years Lucy knows that Luthando wants something, but what is a mystery.” It’s so strange that Lucy takes the sim card out of her phone, cuts it up and throws it away to keep Luthando at bay.
