IT was everyone’s favorite Hollywood bromance. After hitting it off while making Ocean’s 11 in the early 2000s, on- and off-screen partners in crime Brad Pitt and George Clooney were soon partying at George’s Lake Como Italian estate, tooling around town on their motorcycles and engaging in legendary prank wars. “Brad is one of the great guys,” a gushing George once said in an interview. “We’re good friends.”

How times have changed. According to sources, the former A-list pals, who traded charming barbs about their relative sex appeal on countless red carpets, have barely spoken over the past eight years. “It’s sad, but Brad and George have definitely gone their separate ways,” says a Brad insider, noting that Brad’s ex-wife Angelina Jolie played a big part in the demise of their friendship. “It all stems back to when Brad was with Angie,” says the insider. “She never really liked George, and she always thought he was a bad influence.” The tug-of-war proved intense, with some nights ending in screaming matches over a pre-sobriety Brad wanting to stay at the tequila purveyor’s parties while Angelina demanded he come home to their brood of six. “Angie felt George took Brad away from her and their kids,” says the insider.
