IT’S been a year since Brad Pitt split from Angelina Jolie, and though it was Maleficent herself who filed for divorce, Brad is telling pals that he’s feeling better than ever.

“At first he was devastated, but he’s seeing things from a different perspective now, and realizing this was all for the best,” reveals a source close to Brad, 53, and Angelina, 42. “He says it was 12 years of hell.”

With passion to rival Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton’s, the two met on the set of their 2004 spy thriller Mr. and Mrs. Smith, torpedoing Brad’s then-marriage to Jennifer Aniston.
