How did you get your first break in Bollywood ?

My first break was not a memorable one. I personally don’t consider Faltu as my first break and neither do I consider Ungli. These were my first two films. But unfortunately, none of them did well. The first and foremost thing is to click at the Box office and the other thing is to get critically evaluated. I received my first major recognition and critical acclaim in Pink. So I would like to consider Pink as my Bollywood ‘break’ because that laid the foundation of my career and prompted the producers and directors to consider me seriously.

What prompted you to sign Soorma ?

The reason I went on with Soorma was because I was really looking for a different kind of script, something that I had not done earlier. I believe every actor should have the hunger to fit themselves into any kind of roles. In Pink and Inside Edge, my performances were appreciated and both the roles demanded intensity from my end. Hence, I wanted to take a break from the ‘intense’ zone and get into something different, something nice and emotional. As an actor, you should have many layers in your character. So I wanted to do a performance oriented role and I was looking at something different and I guess with Soorma, I got it.

Your dad is a well-known cricketer. Did you ever think of becoming a professional cricketer?
