Priyanka Chopra- The World At Her Feet, Again
Femina
|August 2 2016
Her role in Quantico was originally written for an American and her role in Baywatch was meant to be played by a man. But Priyanka Chopra has a way of bending the world to her will by the dint of sheer hard work, ambition and talent. She talks to Sandipan Dalal about the manic, joyful year that was.
In the late evening hours of June 21, after promoting Quantico (slated for an early July premiere in France) at a press event in Paris, Priyanka Chopra made a trip to the Eiffel Tower with her mother and favorite travel companion, Dr Madhu Chopra. She quickly found a spot to take a great selfie the heritage metal monument glittered prettily under her outstretched fingertips. The photograph that she later posted on Instagram is the perfect symbol of Chopra’s amazing journey to the top of the global entertainment business since Quantico premiered in America in September last year. Never mind the milestones she capped this year People’s Choice Award for Favorite Actress in a New TV Series this January, the Padma Shri in April 3 year-old Chopra feels her real fortune is to have “two active careers in two different continents and to be able to make the most of it.” In an in-depth conversation with Femina, she talked about the whirlwind year she’s had so far. Edited excerpts:
You've been to Mumbai London, New York, Paris and Madrid in the span of a week in June. What's on your current state of mind?
I'm truly exhilarated with Quantico traveling to 100 countries and getting dubbed in 44 languages in less than a year's time. I'm tired but 'm grateful for the success attached to my work.
Your mum, you've said before, is your favorite travel companion. Do you rely on her for support when you're traveling and working?
She's the one in the family who loves traveling. She accompanies me if she likes the places I'm scheduled to visit. This time, it was also her birthday and I was going to miss it as I was promoting Quantico in London. So, I asked her to join m. Even though we don't get to hang out the entire day, we try to catch up over dinner.
