8 DAYS: You play a nightclub towkay in the upcoming Tropicana The Musical, which is about the iconic 1960s local cabaret. It’s not every day we hear Lim Yu Beng sing.
LIM YU BENG: (Laughs) In terms of major musical roles, I’ve only done five musicals in my 27-year career. Tropicana’s not my first singing role, but I’m not at that standard where I can actually sing every night in a club. But I do sing to myself every day, ha! Not many people these days know about Tropicana, [which had topless revues]. Ironically, people back then were more liberal.
You’ve worked on musicals, plays, TV shows and movies. Is it necessary for actors to wear many hats these days?
