Is the upcoming chicken rice burger by hip halal eatery Makcik Chicken a worthy replacement for McDonald's now sold-out nasi lemak version?
McDonald’s patriotic new Nasi Lemak Burger lasted all of two weeks before it was completely sold out. It was so popular it didn’t even make it to National Day, which was what this promotional burger was intended for. Last we heard, it’s available only at selected outlets like Great World City on a while-stockslast basis. Also, the fast food chain introduced another limited-edition, but less exciting burger to replace the nasi lemak one: The Eggcellent McSpicy burger ($5.75), with a spicy chicken thigh patty and fried egg.
Enter two-month-old takeaway hipster halal chicken rice joint Makcik Chicken’s timely Chicken Rice Burger, the burger version of its signature Chicken Rice Set. “We thought of trolling McDonald’s with our own burger,” laughs Saldriana Idris, co-owner of Makcik Chicken.
