Biodegradable Products That Have Long Life And Need Fewer Disposals Are What Customers Are Demanding

Smooth Operations

THE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY CONSTANTLY seeks to improve productivity and cost efficiency. But more keen than them are the players in the coolants and lubricants industry, even though they act only as an ancillary or support arm. Although OEMs employ advanced technologies in terms of working on tough materials, and maintaining efficient metal working operations, their machining shops simultaneously keep exploring newer coolants and lubricants in an effort to enhance productivity and reduce processing costs.

There also a demand to go green during operations and many machining shops opt for environment-friendly, biodegradable products while simultaneously employing recycling programmes. In fact, suppliers of coolants and lubricants are increasingly supporting these newer requirements to further enhance their relevance to existing and prospective customers.

Munish Garg, MD, See Lube Technologies, says, "We do our best to offer the market a long life coolant. Besides this, we are working on new technologies that will help control the wastage of the coolant. When I speak of wastage, it means operators have an opportunity to not flood the machine with the coolant. There would be air misting and that contains a minimum amount of lubricant, say less than 1ml. That is the kind of innovations and changes we want to bring."

Garg adds that the company is also working towards biodegradable lubricants that can be directly thrown into the drainage because it is not hazardous to the environment.
