AN INSPIRED GOVT. TO MAKE CBL A PAN - KERALA EVENT

The CBL, which was organised at 11 venues, did succeed in rejuvenating the State’s traditional boat races with a high degree of professionalism

Enthused by the resounding success of the pioneering Champions Boat League (CBL) that concluded recently, the Kerala Government has decided to take the water event’s next edition to venues across the State.

The 2020 CBL will be a pan-Kerala event, thus spreading northward across Malabar, said Dr. T M Thomas Isaac, State Finance Minister and Kadakampally Surendran, Tourism Minister, at the 12th and final round of the CBL which coincided with the annual President’s Trophy Boat Race at the scenic Ashtamudi Lake in Kollam.

At the concluding event, Tropical Titans rowed their snake-boat to glory in a photo-finish final to score 173 points overall, emerging as winners of the inaugural edition of the CBL.

In the closely contested final, Raging Rowers came second by gaining a narrow edge over Mighty Oars who ended third in the championship which is modelled on IPL cricket.
