jean-Philippe Courtois, EVP and President, Global Sales, Marketing & Operations, Microsoft Corporation is convinced that technology is opening new opportunities to help the company solve some of society’s biggest challenges. He has begun to notice that many of his customers are using artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud for creating a positive societal impact

Social Entrepreneurship Is The New Value Addition To Business: Microsoft

SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURS ARE CHANGING THE WAY BUSINESS INTEGRATES WITH SOCIETY In Courtois’ latest blog, he says that the rising role of social entrepreneurship in business is especially exciting. More than ever, he is now observing that his customers and Microsoft are becoming far more engaged with tackling social issues.

For decades, the business sector has viewed social entrepreneurship as the adjunct to a corporate mission, where well-meaning companies organized volunteer brigades or donated to charities. But today, cutting edge companies are starting to view philanthropic efforts through the lens of Total Societal Impact (TSI).

“Now, businesses can look to our core competencies and leverage them in the service of social impact. This allows us to engage our resources and use tested business practices to supply social entrepreneurs with the best technologies to drive change,” says Jean-Philippe Courtois.

Courtois has clearly observed that today he is seeing more and more of their capabilities and core competencies being used to address societal challenges that can lead to global economic growth and opportunity.
