Polycab along with CW held two interactive virtual sessions that brought forth the need for adopting safe wires and cables

SEEING THE LIGHT OF DAY

In India, some people take the concept of safety light-ly, especially when it comes to installations of wires and cables. There are several myths abounding this. However, Polycab is on a mission. The company is keen that the safety factor grow abundantly and more people take to the concept of buying wires and cables that are safer and also green.

Enlightening people about concepts that will be the lynchpin of survival in the long run is necessary. With this in mind, Polycab India and Construction Week came together and organised a virtual discussion on Wiring India with the Nation Builders Series. There were two such summits organised. Here is the gist.

September 2

We began the session with a welcome note by Bibhor Sriv- Bhushan Sawhney astava, MD, ITP India, who greeted the audience and spoke about how sessions like this can only enhance knowledge of concepts that are mostly hidden from the common man.

Moderated by Haroon Siddiqui, VP, Corporate Head, MEP, Rustomjee, the panellists comprised Brijesh Pandey, Head, MEP, ATS Group; KN Balasubramanyam, Assistant VP, Contracts & Procurement, Prestige Group; Rajiv Batura, Sr VP, Runwal Group; and Bhushan Sawhney, Executive President & Chief Business Officer, (Light Duty Cables), Polycab India.

Sawhney: In his opening note, he spoke about wires being seen as unseen heroes. “It is an unseen hero underground and beneath the wall.

But it plays a vital role, an important role of keeping us safe. Have we realised that our country has one of the highest rates of accidents and deaths? Fire is the second cause of accidents. This also means that the awareness of safe wires is very poor.”
