Redefining Luxury In The Realm Of Hospitality
Businessworld
|September 28, 2019
It is now an inimitable blend of iconic fashion, design and glamour with perceptive hospitality
If you ask anyone who appreciates the finer things in life: “what is a luxury hotel?” you will likely get a range of answers, with everything from exceptional service, unique design, various dining experiences or a home away from home feel.
Over the years, the guests’ perception of “luxury hospitality” has changed, as we have changed as human beings. What did the luxury hospitality space look like 100 years ago? Walking into the lobby of a hotel felt rich and, what we would say today – classical.
Guests were welcomed by staircases with red carpet running down the middle, marching bands, and gold leaf touching everything in sight. Only privileged people could afford a flight ticket and the airports were like runways – people would wear suits and hats − these elements being the definition of their luxurious lifestyle.
Simplicity and comfort: But luxury nowadays is simplicity and comfort. It’s wearing sneakers with silk dresses or tailored suits. All the things we perceive as “luxurious” today were outrageous years back, and this change is good. This change pushed the brands worldwide to expand their portfolios and offer, above any tangible product, an elevated experience, coming to an understanding that they have to learn what new generations expect.
