Finding Jesseca's Dress

Like most brides, Jesseca Liu had very clear ideas about her dress. As hers was a beach wedding in Langkawi, it had to be something subtly glamorous lightweight and easy to walk in.

SHORTLISTING THE STYLE

The actress looked for silhouettes online for many weeks, editing her choices again and again, so that the final selection would be very clear and focused. Then it was Steve’s turn to vet her choices, and he picked up on her preference for slinky, mermaid styles.”

PICKING THE RIGHT FABRIC

Once they’d settled on the silhouette, it was time to talk fabrics. Of course, heavy ones were out because she wouldn’t be comfortable outdoors, and dense laces were too classic and a bit “auntie”. Jesseca needed something that flowed beautifully and was lightweight.

THINKING OF THE DETAILS

Jesseca didn’t mind lace embellishments, but wanted a modern, subtle pattern, so that effectively ruled out full-on lace gowns. Instead, they looked at dresses with lace appliques or embroidery as accents.
