Not be confused with the smiley, Caribbean chef (she’s Rustie!), Rusty Lee Pickering has been making rock ‘n’ roll beds for the Campervan community for more years than he probably cares to remember. Whether they’re for Splits, Bays, Type 25s or for the water pumping fraternity with his M1 range of crash test approved beds, Lee and his band of merry men have been churning out works of steel wonderment for the last 14 odd years. So, we thought it time we caught up with him and found out some more about him and the people who make his beds suitable for both kings and queens. While we were there our sister mag, VWt, also had one of their latest M1 tested beds slotted into its T5 project van, and all was good in the world. Having just moved into a custom built new premises in Hereford, the world of Rusty is flying high, here’s why…
