A design museum in Zurich has received a new lease of life
The Zürich Museum for Design has reopened its doors to the public, introducing a brand-new look. Built by Swiss architects Adolf Steger and Karl Egender in the 1930s, the refurbished building on Ausstellungsstrasse has been restored to its former glory in close consultation with the Heritage Department and Ruggero Tropeano Architekten.
The aim was to preserve the building’s unique character, while at the same time adapting it to be more aligned with contemporary museum standards.
