Reconstruction For Art

Barcelona is one the world’s leading culture centres where a multitude of art venues spans across the city. Here at El Poblenou, Catalonia-based architectural firm Flores Prats Architects has transformed an old building into a cultural space for Sala Beckett.

As a city rich in history, art and culture, Barcelona is not short on cultural spaces and vintage architecture. Still in use to this day, these spaces are another step in the city’s chronological heritage — many of them converted specifically for cultural uses.

One such example is Sala Beckett, a space for theatre-related creation, training and experimentation, devoted especially to promoting contemporary play writing and disseminating Catalan theatrical authorship. It also hosts activities in show production and programming, courses and labs, lectures, meet-ups and all kinds of activities involving exchange, thinking and debate on play writing and the contemporary world.
