On the first of December, we commemorate the National Pollution Control Day. Even as we continue to raise pertinent questions about pollution, its imminent effect on climate change, engage in discourses and discussions to find relevant solutions, statistics still portray a grim reality. Studies indicate that 30% of the world’s pollution is caused by construction projects.
In an attempt to mitigate air pollution after the air quality index of Delhi measured AQI 368, the Supreme Court of India re-imposed a ban on construction activities. According to a recent report of the World Resources Institute 71% of Mumbai’s air pollution is attributed to construction dust. However, no curbs have been announced in Mumbai.
