Green Field Industrial Facility

For several years during the nascent stages of the company, the manufacturing was done in a small facility near Kolhapur (Maharashtra). After a surge in growth, the client was in the midst of a complete rebranding of the company and its products. Part of their rebranding strategy was brief to conceive and design a greenfield industrial and research facility, which will aid the company’s rebranded image of a state-of-the-art global manufacturer of electronic components.

The campus consists of an R&D/administrative facility, mold and press shop, assembly/store building and affiliated facilities like staff cafeteria, electroplating shop, effluent treatment, etc. The layout not only takes advantage of the local climate and transportation but also expedites the production process and creates a coherent environment for the staff.

The tight MIDC plot of 160x100m was to accommodate a built-up area of 11,000sq m. The task of achieving spaciousness in a tight set of the building was achieved by placing long lengths of the two major buildings— the Assembly Building and the R&D Building on a east-west axis. This strategy facilitated keeping an 800sq m of green space surrounded by the above two main structures and the mold and press shop buildings.
