NEVER underestimate the power a pony wields over its middle-aged minder. In many ways, we are their slaves. You start off thinking that the relationship will be between your child and their pony, and quickly realize that this is only part of the deal. Of course, it is important that the two can bond, but early on in a child’s riding life, the relationship between the mother and pony is more important still.
You are putting your trust in an animal, with its own thoughts and ideas, with the most precious thing you have on this earth. If the pony does the basics of what is required, you will love and tend to their every need. And turn a blind eye to the occasional misdemeanor.
