ROBERT JONES, joint-master of the Radnor and West Hereford, saved the life of Mr Trix twice.
“He came to the kennels to be put down when he was five,” he explains. “He’d been kicked on the knee and was a bit of a mess.”
Robert took him home to his dairy farm and turned him out for the summer.
“Time is the greatest healer.”
And so it proved.
“Within 12 months, he was healed. I thought I’d better hunt him and he never looked back.” Thus began 14 seasons of field mastering, during which Mr Trix never refused and Robert never fell offhim. How many can cite such a record?
The second life-saving incident was the result of the trick that earned him his name.
