While MBA is one of the most aspirational qualifica-tions that is sought, very few students manage to get into the right institutions to pursue the course. India has more than 3,038 colleges offering MBA/PGDM qualification (as approved by AICTE) but not everything is valued by the corporate world. If we add the IIMs and a few other deemed-to-be-universities that also offer MBA, this would jump to about 3,300 institutions. It becomes imperative for aspirants to pursue MBA from the better institutions and this entails cracking entrance tests and scoring well in those tests. Given here are the top five entrance exams that are a must attempt for every MBA aspirant.
COMMON ADMISSION TEST (CAT)
The biggest and the most popular exam is CAT. Held by one of the IIMs, it is a computer-based examination that sees about 2.5 lakhs aspirants. CAT scores are accepted by most colleges in India for management courses. CAT 2019 is being conducted by IIM Kozhikode on November 24, 2019.
Eligibility: Any candidate who has a bachelor’s degree with 50% marks (SC/ST/PwD must have 45%) can apply for CAT. Candidates who are appearing in their final year of graduation or are awaiting their results can also apply for CAT. Also, candidates with a professional degree (CA/CS/ ICWA) are eligible to apply. There is no age limit for CAT.
Exam pattern: Candidates are asked 100 questions from Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning as well as Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension. Typically, each section has similar number of questions which range from 31 to 35 with the total questions not exceeding 100.
Marking scheme: For every correct answer 3 marks will be awarded and 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
