In 1994, the UN General Assembly proclaimed 16 September the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. If emissions of uncontrolled ozone-depleting chemicals continue rising, then the gains could be lost. It remains an ongoing technological challenge to find practical ways to cool ourselves and propel our aerosols without depleting the ozone layer or aggravating climate change.

In this special Green Edition of ASIAN Geographic, we continue our series of “colour editions” with a look at all things green in Asia.

Taking a look at our past, present and future, the science, history and solutions to climate change will be explored. Along the way we will also look at those that are doing their utmost to persevere our world and make it more sustainable.

In the final issue, AG will release its annual Passport magazine, which will take a deep dive into parts of Asia that are off the beaten path.
