To many observers, this contradictory behavior of the Chinese authorities raises eyebrows and questions its commitment to the terms of the deal between the two parties. As it is at the moment, it appears Beijing took advantage of the concessions given by the Catholic side to continue its suppression policy of religion. Will the Catholic Church wait and see?
