evo India's August issue features the most affordable AMG you can buy in India – the CLA 45. We line it up with another weapon from Japan that uses the same basic formula. Audi is thinking compact too and we drive the A3 Sedan to find out just how good it is. Nissan’s bringing the GT-R to India and we drive one to the Nurburgring. More stuff from India and the big boys are out – we pit four luxury SUV’s from BMW, Audi, Porsche and Range Rover against each other. Can mid-sized diesel sedans be fun? We pit the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Ford Fiesta, VW Vento and the Fiat Linea to find out. Racing in the dirt is outright thrilling, but are four wheels or two-wheels more entertaining? The Polaris RZR 800 challenges a homegrown dirt bike for bragging rights. We never get enough of the majestic Himalayas so this time we head north with the Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey.
Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG
No V8s and no twin-turbo, but it has the most powerful four-cylinder motor in the World. Just how good is the CLA 45 AMG?
Nissan GT-R
Henry Catchpole revels in the record-breaking Godzilla as he makes his way from France to Germany to lay some rubber at the legendary ‘Ring.
BMW X5 v Audi Q7 v Porsche Cayenne v Range Rover Sport
Big cars, big motors and depleting oil reserves, but SUVs still tug at the heart strings. Sorry Greenpeace.
Audi A3 Sedan
Amidst competition from BMW and Mercedes-Benz in the compact luxury segment, Audi tries a different formula for its latest contender. The A3 Sedan impresses.
City v Vento v Fiesta v Linea v Verna
Mid-sized sedans powered by diesel engines can only spell for boring commutes, but wait... are they really? The best of the lot pitted against each other to gauge the quintessential fun-to-drive factor.
Dirt Devils
Rallying nuts that we are, the debate about two-wheels being better than four extends to the dirt track. We pick the Polaris RZR 800 and a dirt bike, to arrive at a conclusion.
Driven
Turbo-charged Ferraris are back as we sample the California T. The MPV segment heats up as Honda launches the Mobilio. The Indica was Tata’s fortune changer and the manufacturer tries to up the ante with the Zest compact-sedan. VW’s Polo gets a mid-life makeover and a new heart; our take on the newest variant, the Polo 1.5 TDI. Finally, the evocative shape of a classic coupe moulded in a striking shell, the Mercedes-Benz CLS 350.
Kawasaki ZX-14R v Harley-Davidson Fat Boy
Got money in the bank and out for the best set of two-wheels? They say opposites attract and we justify the choices with a hyperbike and a super-cruiser.
GT250R v Inazuma v Ninja 300
Two of everything is always good and a trinity of twin-cylinder motorcycles can only get better. A Hyosung, Suzuki and a Kawasaki... take your pick.
Himalayan Odyssey
We ride with 65 other devotees on the yearly pilgrimage to the roof of the world. Getting Leh’d with the 11th Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey.
