As we mark the beginning of GST on India, we must analyse its implications on the various fields of the country. One can argue it will go well, one may argue otherwise, but in actuality, only time will tell. Overall the GST is generally considered a good reform in the country. One of the reason that GST is being applauded is, of its free flow of credits. However, we find that certain restrictions have been imposed on certain inputs. Our featured article elaborated these blocks in context with the real estate sector in the country.
A reform which the nation needs, is that of the gender discrimination in the employment sector. We live in an era of technological revolution and globalisation yet archaic practices constantly weigh upon us greater with every step forward. A world where the role of women is not limited to bearing children but to her rightful position of standing next to man, however we do not see that in reality. Still, there is barely any female representation in the parliament and the concerns of women are easily dismissed. In the case of employment, a women is seen not to be eligible for a serious job of substantial work however hard she tries and whatsoever education she attains. Rules and procedures that are having global implementation can be analysed in our country and proposed in the parliament as a step forward in development and democracy.
Lastly, a topic that is widely in the media of late is the establishment of a uniform civil code. The need stems from the very concept from which democracy arises i.e equality. India being a secular country should understand that different rights to different communities hurts the very crux of the concept of democracy. Another reason for the need of this code is gender equality, the issue of this code emerged from discussions and debates on triple talaq and violation of women rights, and this code will empower women to stand strong and equal in society.
LawZ Magazine Description:
LawZ released its first issue in August, 2001. The intent was to create a magazine about the law and the legal field, but with a difference. LawZ is India s first comprehensive monthly law magazine for all.The magazine not only covers events relating to the Indian legal system but also makes an effort in comparing it with the legal systems across the globe.
Instead of being of interest only to lawyers and others involved in the legal profession, the aim was to create something that could be read, understood, and even enjoyed by those who do not have formal knowledge of law. In short, it was to be more than a dry, ponderous collection of articles written in the oft arcane language of the court. Nor was it to focus solely on India, because today no news is complete unless it touches on the world at large.
The magazine reaches to all the judges of the Supreme Court, High Courts, Bar Council of India, Lawyers, Law Colleges and Institutions, top Indian and foreign Law Firms, Indian Corporates and Multinational Companies and Legal departments of government and Semi-government agencies, Corporate houses and several Embassies.
The magazine is presently in its 15th year of publication and is receiving tremendous response and appreciation from all the sections of the society and today is the only legal magazine, which has attained its present status in such a short span of time.
We’ve come a long way since our first issue. Today, it is regarded as a benchmark and a trailblazer in legal journalism.
