गणतन्त्र दिवस पर भारत सरकार द्वारा मुख्य अतिथि रूप में निमन्त्रित किए जाने के कारण इंग्लैण्ड के प्रधानमन्त्री बोरिस जॉनसन यहाँ समाचार पत्रों की सुर्खियों में रहे। हालांकि इंग्लैण्ड में कोविड-19 के न्यू स्ट्रेन के कारण महामारी का जो विकराल स्वरूप आया है, उसके चलते उन्होंने प्रधानमन्त्री नरेन्द्र मोदी को फोन कर भारत आने में असमर्थता व्यक्त कर दी है।
